First Sky Group supports construction of National Cathedral with GH₵2m

The dream of an edifice which will serve as a house of prayer or  worship for all Ghanaians in the country, known as the National Cathedral would soon become a reality as  First Sky Group of Companies an indigenous Ghanaian company moves  to support the kick starting of the project by donating a whooping amount of GH₵1 million in addition to assorted construction materials all valued at a total cost of GH₵2 million.
The items include 4000 bags of cement, 15 tons of iron rods and 500 cubic meters of chippings.
Mr. Eric Seddy Kutortse, Chairman of First Sky Group presenting the items to the Board of trustees at the group’s 15th Annual Thanksgiving & Anniversary Ceremony in Accra on Sunday, January 14, he noted the gesture was inspired by divine direction.
In an interview with GhananewsOne, the Chairman said: “Over the years we’ve supported a lot of individuals, churches and organizations in diverse ways including the Renal and Dialysis Unit of the Korlebu Teaching Hospital with GH₵ 2.6million to aid patients who cannot afford the cost of dialysis, we’ve also cleared the debts of patients totaling GH₵620,000 at the Unit. In addition we have donated a brand new Toyota Hilux pickup to the the hospital to be used for its day-to-day transport services”
“This year after we’ve prayed to God, he revealed to us that we should go and support the building of the national cathedral. So it is upon God’s direction” he concluded
The national cathedral project is part of the many others that will be undertaken in various parts of the country as part of Ghana’s diamond jubilee celebrations.
According to President Akufo-Addo who cut the sod for its construction in Accra in 2017, the proposed edifice when completed will serve as a national non-denominational Christian worship centre for the country.
He has since inaugurated a 13-member Board of Trustees who will be in charge of the National Cathedral when it is completed.
The Board, largely constituted by heads of various church groups, has also been tasked to oversee the successful completion of the national chapel.
For his part, Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong Manso, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana called on all Ghanaians to emulate the gesture and contribute their quota towards the successful completion of the national cathedral.
