Ghana commemorates UN Day; holds flag-raising ceremony in solidarity with the world

Ghanaians have joined the world to observe this year’s United Nations Day with with a flag-raising ceremony in solidarity with the United Nations member states towards the achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year's day which falls on October, 24 also marks the 72nd Anniversary of the UN Charter's entry into force is on the theme: “Achieving the SDGs: Innovating, Mobilizing and Partnering for the Implementation of the SDGs in Ghana”. The flag-raising ceremony which climaxed all other notable events at the national level took place at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra, during the early hours of October 24, 2017. The ceremony attracted a huge patronage from members of the general public including students, Security Chiefs, Ministers of State and Members of parliament, Directors of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Local Authorities and Heads of UN Agencies. 2017 UN Day: Ghanaians urged to exercise ‘will power’ to end world’s problems

The United Nations Resident Coordinator for Ghana, Christine Evans-Klock, has reiterated the global call for the use of “will power” as a possible means to overcome all challenges of the world, calling on all Ghanaians to heed the call.  She said, “we have the tools and wealth to overcome the world’s grave challenges such as widening conflicts and inequality, extreme weather and deadly intolerance, security threats and poverty among others but what we lack is the will”. Ms. Evans-Klock made the appeal while delivering a speech on behalf of the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, at a flag-raising ceremony in Accra to commemorate the United Nations Day on October 24, 2017. 2YL Project: Over 60 women sensitized on importance of immunization; urged to go “full circle”

The Deputy Director of Nursing Services, Ga East Health Directorate, Rejoice Bansa has appealed to all Ghanaians to help demonstrate high level of commitment in the welfare of children at all times by making sure they get immunized regularly and properly in conformity with the required schedules outlined by health experts.
