NGO actors are not your ‘competitors’-Rev. Walter Pimpong to politicians

Politicians have been urged to rubbish any negative thought purported to suggest that Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) actors are in business only to compete with them over public recognition rather than focusing on their objectives which among other things seeks to affect the lives of people and bring about development in the society Very Rev. A renowned marriage counsellor, Nana Ebo Koomson has cautioned the youth against rushing into marriage simply because they are moved by certain feelings within their body towards the opposite sex without first conducting a critical study to see if the he/she is the right person before going ahead to marry. “You shouldn’t rush into marriage just because you have a string in the heart touching that you should marry the person, don’t go, study before you go into it”, he stressed. 2017 World Toilet Day: UNIC Accra partners GES to sensitize over 50 students on proper sanitation

The United Nations Information Centre, Accra(UNIC) in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service(GES) have held a forum to sensitize over 50 students in the country on proper sanitation as part of efforts to commemorate this year’s World Toilet Day. The sensitization forum which witnessed over 50 students vigorously sensitized on proper sanitation methods including waste water management, dangers of open defecation among others took place at the Osu Presbyterian Preparatory School in Accra on Friday November 17, 2017. The participants were drawn from 5 selected Preparatory and Junior High schools located at Osu within the Accra Metropolis. 2017 SDGs Photo Contest: 17-year-old winner urges gov't to focus on developing rural communities to eliminate poverty

The 2nd place winner of the 2017 SDGs Student Photo Contest, Matthew Paa Kwesi Williams, a 17-year-old student of the Morgan International Community School has called on government to as a matter of urgency take proactive measures to implement policies that would lead to the development of rural communities in the country. According to him, rural communities in the country deserve to be accorded with the needed support by government towards realization of growth like the urban areas to drastically reduce the level poverty they are engulfed with in order to ease the burden on people especially children who are the hardest  hit. The young talented winner made the call at a media briefing in Accra on Tuesday November 14, 2017. The event, an initiative of the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC Accra) seeks to put spotlight on the Matthew Paa Kwesi William who emerged as the World’s 2nd best for that matter overall Africa winner in the 2017 SDGs Student Photo Contest.

Exercise utmost transparency in handling procurement activities-PPA boss charges practitioners

They have also been asked to carry out all activities pertaining to buying and supply of goods and services in a judicious and non-discriminatory manner to help achieve value for money. SICLA holds sensitization forum on breast cancer; educates over 200 women

As part of measures to promote healthy lifestyle in the country, the SIC ladies Association (SICLA) has organized a 1-day training workshop to sensitize women and raise awareness on the dangers of breast cancer, its detection and control. The workshop which was held concurrently for the various branches of the association under the SIC Insurance Company Limited (SIC) across the country namely; Accra area office, Tema area office, Kumasi area office, Takoradi area office saw over 200 women (members) of SICLA vigorously educated on how to detect breast cancer early, prevention and treatment options available. Ms. Bernice Boachie, President of SICLA explaining the rationale behind the initiative said: “October is the breast cancer awareness month and that’s the major reason why we’ve decided to put up this particular event together to alert our women in the corporate institution especially here at the SIC about the practice of early detection and importance of breast examination”.
