Ghana Disability Achievers Awards Launched Dr. Adams Nuhu, Awutu-Senya East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has entreated Ghanaians to generously support any cause that is aimed at empowering the physically challenged in our society.   According to him, persons living with disability are creatures of God bestowed with enormous untapped talents which when supported will make them self-sufficient instead of relying on begging as the easiest means of making money.   “Persons with disability are blessed with great untapped talents which can be developed through learning of trade which all Ghanaians must help them to achieve so they can create their own wealth instead of sitting by the roadside with the show of amputated hands to make money the easiest way which I believe is not the best”  he stressed. Prison officers trained to help drive peace ahead of elections A non-profit organization committed to promoting peace in Ghana has taken 26 Ghana Prisons Service selected staff through a six-month intensive training course under the Peaceful Solution Character Education Program (PSCEP) aimed at fostering peace through educational programmes curricula designed to develop positive character in Ghana.   The beneficiaries, under the 5 pillars of the program (PSCEP), were vigorously educated on how to exercise self-control, respect for one another, acceptance of election results no matter the outcome, responsibility for their thoughts, actions and deeds and the use of the STOP, an acronym which guarantees they stop in all situations (in speech and actions), think and weigh the options before proceeding with the right choice.  The colourful graduation ceremony which was held at the Prisons Interdenominational Church in Accra on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 saw cert

Gov't urged to increase maternity leave period for women Some stakeholders working in the health sector of the country are advocating strongly  calling on to government  urgently stem in and ensure that the current maternity leave period women enjoy is increased to appreciable level  to commensurate with the 14 weeks period recommended by International Labour Organization (ILO).  This according to them will help remove the barriers to breastfeeding thereby guaranteeing   every nursing mother practice exclusive breast feeding for six month and  later  continue for two years or longer as recommended by the World Health Organization(WHO). “Don’t let anything take you away from your books”, queen mother tells youth The queen mother of Efutu, Krontihemaa of Ogua Traditional Area, Nana Amba Eyiaba I has challenged the youth to be resilient and strongly committed to studying books so as to break the barriers of poverty to become successful leaders in the future.  “For you to become successful leaders in the future, you must set your priorities right, stay away from sexual activities and bad friends and be serious with your academic works.
