Gov’t Urged To Help Create Employment Opportunities For Nurses

Gov’t has been urged to as a matter of urgency intervene to create employment opportunities to relieve the plight of the numerous frustrated nurses and midwives in the country that could not get job after successful completion of studies. Trainee nurses and midwives are currently battling with Government over unemployment issues two years after completion of studies which has become a huge challenge in Ghana. Pres. GAHTI Organises Clean-up, Donates To Pantang Mental Hospital

The Greater Accra zone of the Ghana Association of Health Training Institutions (GAHTI) has presented assorted items to support the inmates of the Pantang Mental Hospital. Items donated included 2 bags of rice, 15 bags of sachet mineral water, packs of toothpaste, toilet rolls, detergents, secondhand clothes, shoes and bags amongst others. According to Obed Asare Bediako, Gt. Accra Zonal President of the Ghana Association of Health Training Institutions (GAHTI), the donation forms part of activities to mark the association’s sixteen years anniversary. The donation targeted 3 specific wards of the hospital which comprises of 11; a female ward and the other two which are 12 and 13 respectively male wards. “It equally seeks to create awareness on GAHTI’s week celebration scheduled to take place in April, 16th -24 th on the theme: “The role of health trainees in the prevention of breast cancer”, Pres. Korle Bu Burns Centre gets Toyota support

As part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery in Ghana, Toyota Ghana Company Limited has presented a negative pressure wound therapy machine with some dressing materials to the National Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. The donation of the vacuum assisted closure (VAC) machine follows an appeal made to the company to support the Centre. The gesture, according to Mr. Tetsuya Suematsu, Managing Director of Toyota Ghana Limited, forms part of the company’s social responsibility towards ensuring continuous success story of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in healthcare delivery. Presenting the items to the Centre at a short ceremony on Wednesday, Mr. Tetsuya Suematsu said: “We believe by contributing to the health of those within the communities in which we operate, we also sustain the strength of our business. That is why we have established and maintained a continuous support relationship with this hospital over the years.”

Edward Mahama urges Madina youth to vote out ruling NDC

The 2016 flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Edward Nasigire Mahama has urged youth in the Madina Zongo Community to vote the ruling NDC out of power in November. According to him, the NDC has nothing good to offer them. Dr. Edward Mahama made the call when he paid a courtesy call on the Madina Zongo Community Chief, Alhaji Baba Seidu at his Palace in Madina last Saturday. He used the opportunity to officially inform and seek the blessing of the Zongo Chief about his intention to lead Ghana.
