Regulate registration of NGOs in the country- gov't told

The Executive Director of  the Hope for Future Generations, (HFFG),  an NGO,  Ms. Cecilia Senoo has appealed to  government  to as a matter of urgency enact  laws that will regulate the registration of  Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)  in the country. This, according to her will help prevent charlatans from getting registered on board the NGO profession as well as aid gov’t to track the performance of NGOs contributing positively to the development of the country. Ms. Cecilia Senoo made the appeal during a panel discussion at the just ended 2017 National Philanthropy Forum held at the Accra International Conference Centre. Smart device maker, Infinix has conducted 1-day training workshop for over 60 students of the University of Ghana believed to be its cherished fans. The training was aimed at enlightening the students on the usefulness of their favorite Infinix smartphones as well as help address certain minor challenges they might be confronted with daily. The 2-hour program which took place at the Akuafo Hall, University of Ghana Campus in Legon saw over 60 participants in attendance. They were taken through some troubleshooting exercises using their  Infinix smartphones including how to  effectively run software updates,  fix up their mobile phones, how to sign onto X club on their phones as well how to deal with other hardware related issues whenever they occur. The  Manager for the National Tuberculosis Control Programme (NTP),  Dr Frank Adae Bonsu says Ghana is currently sitting on a time bomb ready to explode with tuberculosis silently killing many  people daily yet nothing concrete is being to combat the deadly disease. Dr Frank Adae Bonsu According him, many Ghanaians are dying everyday with majority of them being  women but unfortunately the sources of  TB transmission for most of  the cases are not even known.  He said it's time for all and sundry to rise up in oneness and embark on rigorous awareness  campaign towards total  elimination of tuberculosis in Ghana. The Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service(GHS) have issued a joint press release calling on all Ghanaians to dismiss claims of false rumour circulating on social media suggesting an outbreak of deadly Ebola Viral Disease(EVD) in Ghana. This follows a controversial sound bite making rounds on social media suggesting an outbreak of the deadly Ebola in the country. In a bid to preserve its legacy coupled with the memorable milestones chalked right from its inception to date and recording   it for posterity, the National Lottery Authority (NLA) has launched a book titled “the journey so far”. “The journey so far” is a 200 pages book cataloguing the history, achievements and challenges of the National Lottery Authority since the beginning of its operation in 1958 to date. According to NLA’s Director-General, Brigadier Gen. Martin K. G. Ahiaglo(Rtd), The best way to preserve the authority’s rich heritage was to look into the past and spring together the unforgettable milestones in its history right from inception to date and documenting it for posterity. Established in November 2016, the association seeks to build and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship between UK-based Coventry University and its alumni in Ghana.
