HortiFresh: Program to boost horticultural production and exports in West Africa launched

In a bid to boost horticultural production and promote commercial fruit and vegetable sector development in Ghana and Ivory Coast, the HortiFresh West Africa programme has been launched at the plush La Palm Royal Beach Resort on Thursday September 20, 2018 in Accra. The program which aims at establishing a sustainable and internationally competitive fruit and vegetable sector that contributes to inclusive economic growth, food and nutrition security in Ghana and Ivory Coast is being implemented by a consortium of Wageningen UR, SNV Ghana, Resilience, Advance Consulting and SENSE. It is supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands which has prioritized commercial agriculture in its strategic plan of moving from aid to trade. At the launch, the Deputy Minister for Horticulture, Mr. George Oduro and the Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Mr. Ron Strikker, cut a mango cake to officially launch the program. Lack of proper research reason for collapse of local banks,poor performance of brands

Fatima Ali Mohammed, Representative for Ghana and Nigeria, Superbrands UK Superbrands UK representative for Ghana and Nigeria, Ms Fatima Ali Mohammed has observed that lack of proper research on part of both regulators and marketers in the country has been a major cause of worry, leading to the collapse of local banks including non-performance of brands, businesses and institutions among others in recent times. She averred that most often due diligence was not employed by marketers and regulators in taking critical decisions which pertains to smooth running of local banks, businesses, institutions and building of brands among others, a situation contributing to significantly to failure and loss of consumer trust. Highlighting on importance of research to growth of businesses, she posited: “Research is crucial because it gives you the pulse otherwise you walking into market very blindly with blindfold, you don’t know who to target and why you’re targeting them” she stress

I support national cathedral 200% - Bishop Jerry Augustus Sowah

The International Director of Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches for Africa(FGFMCI), Bishop Jerry Augustus Sowah has waded into the controversy surrounding the proposed national cathedral, declaring his full support and urging government to proceed with urgency, barring any unforeseen circumstances. The highly revered man of God sharing his views on the contentious matter in an interview said: “We have a national mosque for Moslems and the government uses taxpayer’s money to sponsor hajj trips now, what is wrong with the President saying that this cathedral is not going to serve only Christian but a monument to serve other purposes? he quizzed, adding, I see nothing wrong about that, as a matter of fact it is not the taxpayer’s money that is going to be used to build it”. He furthered: “The government is only part of this by providing the land. It’s the church that is going to facilitate the building process that’s it, so I see nothing wrong with that and I’ll support it
