Northern Ghana CSOs Coalition on Green Climate Fund deepens capacity on climate change, GCF & GSLERP

Environmental advocacy group calling itself the Northern Ghana Civil Society Organizations Coalition on Green Climate Fund has built the capacities of its membership on climate change with focused attention on the Green Climate Change Fund (GCF) projects in Ghana aimed at deepening awareness about its implementation processes so as to inform them on their roles as well as to help influence the initiatives towards full realization of benefits of the people and communities. The 2-day workshop which took place on 22nd & 23rd August, 2022 at the Gariba Lodge in Tamale was organized by the Care International Ghana with support from Kasa Initiative Ghana under the second phase of a Green Climate Fund readiness project in Ghana (2021-2022) funded by Care Germany and facilitated by Germanwatch. Human Rights Reporters Ghana gets results: 7-year-old girl brutally assaulted, tortured rescued

  The Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) has welcomed the news about the rescue of a 7-year-old girl who was brutally assaulted, tortured, and abused by her father, with great joy after its report on the barbaric and inhumane treatment meted out to the young girl yielded a positive result, pushes the authorities to respond leading to her rescue from the grips of her tyrannizing family . 7-year-old Mary Asana's (not her real name) photograph and video footage broke the internet on Tuesday July 19 2022, and got many hearts torn after a publication by the Human Rights Reporters Ghana went viral.  In the image which triggered shock and horror, Mary can be seen in ropes firmly tied up on both hands and feet lying helplessly on the floor in a sorrowful state.  The caption accompanying the photograph: “Tied like a lamb to the slaughter", aroused huge public outcry with the publication receiving the widest publicity on several social media platforms the moment the news surfaced.  Mar

An investigation by the Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) into the circumstances that led to the victimization and gruesome torture of a 7-year-old girl whose feet and hands were bounded with ropes by his father for hours in the name of punishment for a wrongdoing has pointed out to an allegation levelled against her for shoplifting of a biscuit from neighbours’ shop. The bizarre incident which took place at Ampaame, a town located in Kumasi within the Ashanti Region of Ghana on Friday July 15, had since received an outright public outcry and condemnation the moment the issue was brought to light by the Human Rights Reporters Ghana. The victim, looking malnourished, had received severe flogging, left without food and above all tied up with ropes by both hands and feet from dawn to dusk, according to an eyewitness who spoke to the HRRG team of investigative journalists.
