Ghana’s Journey to a Cashless Society: not far from being achieved-MTN Mobile Money Boss
The Senior Commercial Manager of MTN Mobile Money Services, Mr. Eli Hini has opined that the distance between the dream of the Ghana’s cashless economy and its transformation into a reality is just a matter of few miles away. He said “ Though much has been said about the introduction of a cashless society in Ghana but even the Central Bank doubt it, questioning its feasibility in recent times, claiming it can only be a thing of the future and believing it can only be termed as a cash light society but not cashless” he hinted. Drawing an inspiration with reference to the success story of Kenya’s economy in leading the mobile money services platform in Africa with over 20 million subscribers on board so far, Mr. Hini was optimistic that Ghanaians will soon behold the realization of the cashless society a success through the latest introduction of MTN Ghana’s “Pay School fees straight from your mobile phone” and other initiatives to be introduced in the future
