CSOs urges Gov't for inclusion into national health policy formulation process

The Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), Dr. Joseph Amuzu has urged  government to include  Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working in  Health within the country into the  national health policy formulation process so as to back  its efforts towards effective promotion of health delivery in Ghana.  Dr. Joseph Amuzu made the call when he officially launched the fourth edition of the global watch report on Thursday at the Sun lodge Hotel near Tesano, a suburb of Accra. His comment follows government’s failure to engage Civil Society Organizations in health within the country to be part of the recent national review of the health system meeting which was organized by government on Thursday and other subsequent programs similarly which it claimed to have been completely neglected. Small Scale Miners Association calls for reduction of permit fees

The Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners(GNASSM) has condemned the inconsistent  increment of the Environmental Protection Agency's(EPA) permit fees for small scale mining sector describing it as unrealistic. They are calling on government to as a matter of urgency intervene to  call EPA to order to radically reduce the recent permit fees which they claim has risen astronomically from GHC750.00 to GHC 9,600.00 within a short period of time.  It said the mining leasing fees has risen from GHC750.00 to $2400.00 convertible at the going exchange rate with $300 for processing and $2100 for permit which is uncalled for They’ve also maintained EPA has acted unfairly not taking into consideration the “dollarization” of fees and charges which has affected permit fees causing it to rise excessively contrary to the laws and directives of the Bank of Ghana. Assemblyman donates generator set to Anyaa District Police Station

Mr. Joseph Obimpeh, Assemblyman for the Anyaa NIC Electoral area has donated a 220 volt single-phase Honda Generator set to the Anyaa District Police Station.   The gesture, according to Obimpeh was to help the station get illuminated during power outage. "About a week ago I went to there to discuss an issue with the commander, unfortunately I there was light off and I realized how the prisoners were suffering in the cells. I felt so much pity for their plight so I promised the commander that I will buy the station a generator set.   In response to an appeal made by the district commander, Mr. Obimpeh told Joy News he will provide the station with a decent and comfortable accommodation so that they can serve the community with peace of mind.
