KENYA, NIGERIA KICKED OFF TOURISM CAMPAIGNS IN WEST AFRICA

Nigeria and Kenya has kicked off massive tourism marketing campaigns in West Africa by launching travel trade training sessions in different regions of Ghana and Nigeria. Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) says the two countries have shown all the indications of contributing to the Kenya's tourism growth as Kenya turns to emerging markets and the Africa region for more tourists. "West Africa is potential to us and this is the beginning of our efforts to tapping into the market that has high spenders with willingness to spend" says KTB Regional Marketing Manager Fred Okeyo during the launch of travel trade training and media engagement programs underway in the cities of Ghana and Nigeria. KTB is training about 200 travel agents in West Africa as well as media engagement programs in a bid to equip them with information on Kenya's tourism products. SHALOM INDIGENOUS FOUNDATION DONATES TO 37 MILITARY, POLICE HOSPITAL FOR XMAS

Kernel Ivy Tamakloe receiving the items  S halom Indigenous Foundation, a Non- Governmental Organisation, in collaboration with The Bible Baptist Church has last monday donated items worth 6000 ghc to the 37 Military hospital and the Ghana Police Hospital in Accra as not only part of their corporate social responsibility towards giving back to the vulnerable, sick or poor in society but this time as simply, a gift for Xmas. The items which includes eight boxes of Pap-smear, two wheel chairs, ten walkers, eight boxes of nose masks, and twenty crutches were distributed among the two hospitals simultaneously in equal proportion. Quarshie, who made the presentation to the hospital authorities, noted the items were to serve as a gift for patients aiming to put a smile on their faces during this yuletide Season. The president of the vegetarian Association of Ghana, Dr Kofi Asare has cautioned the public to desist from consumption of milk, meat, sausages, chicken and other animal products. This he said will help prevent cardiovascular disease like cancer, stroke diabetics and others. He suggests the consumption of plant based foods like fruits and vegetables diet as the only way to achieve a healthy lifestyle. He made this remark during the 8 th Annual Vegetarian Celebration and the Launch of the 42 nd International Vegetarian Union world Vegefest in Ghana at the Civil Servants Hall in Accra. Ghana has become the first country in the world to launch the national yam strategy for the development of the yam industry in the country. The national yam strategy which puts yam in the spotlight as a key crop to help Ghana fight poverty, enhance food security, and improve the livelihoods and income of women and men engaged in the yam sector.
