Jumia now AIG’s one stop Online Shopping Mall in Africa

Africa Internet Group (AIG), the leading internet platform in Africa with a network of companies has merged eight of its platforms into one network known as Jumia ecosystem.

 The new Jumia ecosystem will give access to products and services from 8 leading online shopping platforms.

Speaking at the AIG’s annual press conference in Accra on Thursday, June 2016, the Managing Director of Jumia Ghana, Jean Philippe Boul said the move seeks to help create one stop shop for all brands to aid customers the comfort in doing business online towards achieving a successful E-Commerce transaction in Africa.

“The good news is that with the new Jumia network, customers can now find on Jumia all their needs; branded products, fashion and electronics with Jumia (previously Jumia and Kaymu), local vendors with Jumia market (previously Kaymu), hotel booking with Jumia Travel (previously Jovago), food delivery with Jumia Food (previously Hellofood), classifieds with Jumia Deals (previously Vendito), Jumia House (previously Lamudi) and Jumia Car (Previously Carmudi) and finally logistics services with Jumia Services (previously AIGX),” Boul stated.

According to Sacha Poignonnec and Jeremy Hodara, founders and co-CEOs of Jumia, “Uniting all services allows us to better help our customers fulfill their daily aspirations. This is all possible because people connect to our platform to access those services and products in an environment that we have designed for them, addressing their needs and expectations on quality, choice, price, trust and convenience”.

According to the founders, operating under the same brand name reinforces the legitimacy of proposing other services to our customers and to our vendors. “We want to have one strong brand that is trusted and loved by our customers across Africa”.

Deputy Minister of Communications, Hon. Ato Sarpong in a speech read on his by Mr.  Joseph Tetteh, a Director at the Ministry of communication commended African Internet Group for the initiative in helping promote E-Commerce in Africa. He pledges gov’t support for Jumia and other stakeholders working hard in the country to leverage and promote E-Commerce in Ghana and beyond.

Jumia’s new vision, “Expand your horizons”, expresses the group’s ambition to transform people’s lives through the internet overcoming the ground market challenges of the continent and giving all Africans the opportunity to access high quality services and products everywhere.

With presence in over 23 African countries, Jumia is poised to connect and offer African consumers and entrepreneurs’ better business by creating sustainable ecosystem of digital services through online and mobile market places to expand horizons.
