Giving hope to vulnerable women, children; the story of Felicia Sosu

Her commitment to helping the disadvantaged women and children in society to live a life of dignity as expected of every human being has reached a crescendo as her NGO celebrates its 10 years anniversary with a surprise.

 For her, supporting the poor and the marginalized in the society to live a meaningful life is indeed a great honor worth dying for.

Ms. Felicia Sosu is a lady with a high repute, a gem whose passion and generosity to help others succeed in life has contributed to many deprived children and women already living a life of hope within various communities in the Ga East and La Nkwantang Municipalities of the Greater Accra Region.

In 2004 the dream began with no money but lots of passion and focus to reach out to the poor in society no matter the cost.

Life was indeed difficult for her in the beginning which compelled those who started with her to drop out somewhere along the way with flimsy excuses that charity work had no financial benefit to offer.

In fact there were times; she had to dip her hand into her own coffers to pay school fees for some deprived children in the communities whose parents could not afford.


For Felicia, the journey hasn’t been an easy one at all as she had to sell her personal car at a point in time to be able raise funds to support her project. Such a noble dream was later transformed into formation of the Rural Project Support (RPSN), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) committed to ending poverty in Ghana through active support for disadvantaged women and children in the society.  The idea was to position her in a proper way to mobilize enough funds and resources to support her passion.

On the 10th Anniversary celebration of the Rural Project Support Network (RPSN), the happy, hardworking benefactress glowed with humility and satisfaction as the rapturous applause went even higher from the celebrants.

The standing ovation was only a testament of her achievements, dedication and commitment over the years to the tens of women and children who has benefited from her unflinching support.

The colorful event took place at the forecourt of AWA office building at Abokoki, a small town in the Ga East district of the Greater Accra Region.

Also in attendance were the MP for the area, Lawyer Adwoa Sarfo and some crème de la crème of the society.

Among the tall list of interventions organized by Felicia’s outfit to relieve the plights of women and help create jobs for them in the society, was the training programs in producing detergents  like liquid soaps , Dettol antiseptic, parazone and bathing gel etc.
Others also benefited from handworks like bead making, sandals making, ice cream making, catering and preparation of local soft drinks (sobolo) among others. Some overly excited women who shared their experience in an interview said they’ve benefited tremendously under her support.

As a result the beneficiaries are now financially empowered to help feed their families and themselves with ease.

Executive Director of Rural Project Support Network (RPSN), Ms. Felicia Sosu, who also doubles as the Founder of Dromo Women’s Group, an affiliate NGO can currently boast of owing 73 sub-groups.
The sub-groups  are made up of both women and men within the Ga East and La Nkwantang Municipalities of the Greater Accra Region. These sub-groups run various activities on daily basis to augment the objectives of RPSN, the mother body to actively champion the cause to end poverty in Ghana.

 Education is at the heart of fighting poverty for which reason  Ms. Felicia Sosu has been organizing, a twice a week adult literacy classes for women who didn’t go to school.

Through the support of benevolent individuals and corporate organizations, Ms Sosu hopes to increase the number of beneficiaries of the literacy  classes for women groups within the two Municipal Assemblies.
