Emefa Sedziafa is the 2016 face of GIJ


Emefa Sedziafa, a 20-year-old diploma student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) has been crowned the 2016 face of GIJ in a ‘hotly contested all-night long battle’ between 10 bold and beautiful ladies vying for the ultimate crown.

The keenly contested all-night long battle which lasted for six hours almost left the four-member panel of judges indecisive in determining the fate of who actually wears the ultimate crown as the face of GIJ. 

The Judges made up of Nadia Ntanu (2014 Miss Ghana), Dr. Albert James Rahman and Miss Emilia Ainooson have had indeed a tough time in declaring the winner for the pageant.
 Among the 10 beautiful contestants, 20 year- old Emefa Sedziafa, Diploma in communication student was declared the 2016 face of GIJ.  For her prize, Emefa took home a cash prize of GH₵ 2, 000 including products from sponsors, free photo-shoot with EF Photography and a free make-up voucher.
In addition, she’ll serve as an ambassador championing the crusade against unsafe abortion and educating her peers on abortion for a period of 1 year.  

Nimat Emefa Tijani also a Diploma in Communication student was declared the 1st runner up whiles Adriana Adu was adjudged the 2nd runner up respectively. Nimat received GH₵ 1500 whiles Adriana took home GH₵ 1000 with souvenirs including a make-up coupon from sponsors.

The event also witnessed some deserving contestants awarded under the hotspot category before the final declaration of winners. The winner, Emefa Sedziafa again was awarded Miss Popularity whiles Nimat Emefa Tijani received the Miss Photogenic award, Esther Agbo received award for Miss Congeniality and Elizabeth Bram adjudged Miss Industrious.

The winner Emefa Sedziafa full of excitement in an interview described the contest as a ‘tough one’ adding ‘the judges themselves had to battle with in deciding the winner. For her, it was passion and determination that kept her going till the end.

She commended Miss Dora Badu Acheampong, GIJ’s women’s Commission for serving as a source of inspiration for her throughout the competition.
 The colorful ceremony which came under the theme, “Abortion and the Tertiary Student.” took place at the conference hall of Alisa Hotel in Accra. 

It attracted multitudes of spectators to the scene just to catch a glimpse.  Although the delightful event came to a close at 2 am dawn, it gives way to a massive after party bash which took patrons away on a jolly night treat inside O2 lounge at Osu till the morning comes.
