PSCEP: The effective tool to engender
peace in Ghana
For any nation to achieve development, peace as an ingredient
is said to be the key. It therefore behoves on every citizen, individuals and
organizations to preach the message of peace and abide by it.
It is under this backdrop the Peaceful Character
Education Foundation (PCEF), a Ghanaian based Non-governmental Organization (NGO)
has recently launched its campaign dubbed “Peace in Ghana 2016 and beyond” to
educate Ghanaians about the need to ensure that peace prevail in Ghana
especially before, during or after the November 7 polls.
PCEF’S
peace campaign plan is based on 5 key pillars which are extracts of its exclusive
program; PSCEP. These are as follows:
1. SELF CONTROL: Lets Guide and direct our
thoughts, because our thoughts lead to feelings and feelings leads to actions
which lead to a POSITIVE outcome or a NEGATIVE outcome.
2.
RESPECT: each other’s views and opinions and Respect and Protect property and
environment
3.
ACCEPTANCE: of election results no matter the outcome
4.
RESPONSIBILITY: All stakeholders should strive to perform their duties
appropriately and to the best of their abilities
5.
In all things lets S.T.O.P.: Stop, Think, weigh our Options and Proceed with
the right choice. The right choice is a choice that would not bring harm to
anybody, to property and to the environment.
According to Mr. Richard Wogodo, the President of PCEF, persistent
determination to bring a peaceful solution to the world's problems has led to
the publication of the Peaceful Solution Character Education Program which has
a variety of courses designed exclusively by PCEF to reach all ages so the
impact of character change can be realized and affected in the society.
The PSCEP is a comprehensive program that provides
complete curricula for students (primary through secondary), parents, inmates,
rehabilitated youths and community youth groups which is making a positive
impact on many lives.
Delivering his
address at the campaign launch in Accra on Saturday, July 2, 2016 which took
place at the GNAT Hall, Richard Wogodo disclosed the 5 key pillars which hinges
on the campaign are indeed important because “it does not only help us to
achieve a peaceful elections but at the general society level can help
transform and make our communities a peaceful one before, during and after the
November polls”.
A day before the
launch of the campaign which was Friday, July 1, 2016, PCEF conducted a peace walk
in the morning between the hours of 7:00-9:00 am to create awareness about the
campaign which saw over 138 people in attendance. They marched through some
principal street in Accra, the nation’s Capital before converging at a big
venue where participants were addressed.
