MEDIA URGED TO SENSITIZE PUBLIC ON THE IMPORTANCE OF BREASTFEEDING
Dr. Maame Yaa Nyarko addressing the press at the event Dr Maame Yaa Nyarko, Vice President of the Paediatric Society of Ghana, has called for media support in educating public especially nursing mothers on the importance of breastfeeding in the country. According to her the media is a powerful tool for information dissemination and therefore has a critical role to play in educating the public on issues pertaining to health “since most people are unaware of the right things so they do the wrong things” she stressed. She was addressing Journalists at the Philips AVENT 30th Anniversary and maiden edition of the “Baby of the Year Competition 2014” launch in Accra yesterday Dr Maame Yaa Nyarko who is also a lecturer cum Paediatrician at the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital equally underscored the need for mothers to feed their babies with breast milk only for the first six months.
