The Mass Social Welfare Scheme (MSWS): a must to save Ghanaians from abject poverty
The President of the
Mass Social Welfare Scheme (MSWS) Ghana, De-Ben Selassie Elikplim has revealed
that unless a conscious
war is waged by the afflicted individuals and responsible people who control
the world’s strategic resources, poverty will only remain a socioeconomic
weapon of mass destruction.
He equally charged his staff members
to collaborate effort work assiduously towards effective implementation of the
scheme, disclosing this during a staff meeting in Accra yesterday.
The Mass Social
Welfare Scheme which is aimed at providing valuable structured welfare needs to
its members through affordable housing, educational grants, and the provision
of capital to help set up new businesses was launched in April, this year to help alleviate poverty by offering
financial help to the poor and vulnerable citizens of Ghana and throughout
Africa.
The program which is
currently established in all 215 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District
Assemblies in Ghana has been borne out of a concept which operates through voluntary mass
electronic based co-operative union that guarantees universal and timeless
lifeline in social security services to all members regardless of their social
status, race, political and religious affiliations through a comprehensive public
private partnership enterprise that equally seeks to mobilize universal
resources within a digitally controlled strategic framework to address basic
human needs and wants.
The schemes operation depends on the
use of Cubical Blu Solutions, an information technology strategic Solution which uses digital pen and
paper and digidesk platform for registering over 10,000 Ghanaians under the
scheme.
It is believed that Cubical Blu’s
technologies will create over 20,000 jobs in digital data collection and
management.
According to the President of the
MSWS Ghana,
De-Ben Selassie Elikplim, there will be free registration for
every children’s home as well as commercial drivers and their mates.
The
scheme which is intended to kick start its operation in August , 2013 is
targeted at catering for the plight of 18 million members and also creating
jobs for 1,500 employees through 200 US million dollar grant realized as a
grant from foreign donors including
20,000 Ghana cedis donation from Unibank Ghana
to support the operation of the scheme.
