The Student's Representative Council of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) under the auspices of its Women’s Commission has launched the 2016 women’s week celebration with much emphasis on educating students on abortion. This year's event which is on the theme: ‘A b ortion and the Tertiary Student’ comes with varieties of fun-packed activities lined-up to whip up students attention towards successful week celebration. Dr. Constance Bart-Plange, Programme Manager of the National Malaria Control Program of the Ghana Health Service has called on all Ghanaians to help champion the crusade towards the fight against malaria in the country. This, she hinted will help Ghana meet its goal of reducing the disease and death due malaria by 75% by 2020. Dr. Constance Bart-Plange made the call at a press briefing to launch this year’s World Malaria Day celebration in Accra on Tuesday, April 19, organized by the Ghana Health Service (GHS). As part of efforts to enhance teaching and learning of disadvantaged children in the country, the Social Security National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has presented a cheque of GH₵ 50,000.00 to Creating New Achievable Beginnings; an Accra based NGO in education. It is to assist them towards financing a school boarding house building facility project and expansion of the school building to cater for admission and training of more special needs children within the country. Jumia Ghana, in partnership with MTN, MTN Solution Space screened 10 shortlisted teams at a live pitch event which took place at the MTN head office on April 8th 2016. PRINCE KWAKYE The  10 teams ; UniApp, KwikAuto-Care Group, SchoolFees, Chalkboard Education, Hovver, Medrx Limited, Diggibonds, eCampus LLC, Leran Delivery Service, eNow were shortlisted from 85 received applications in Ghana. Freelance Journalist Joseph Kobla Wemakor has been adjudged the most influential student media personnel of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) at the maiden edition of ‘Campus Clique’ award ceremony held on Friday, April 1 at the school’s premises. The honor was an acknowledgement of his immense contribution towards reporting on developmental issues – including poverty eradication in Ghana – that affect the lives of women and children in the society.
