Dalex Finance wins business of the year award
Dalex Finance, a
Ghanaian non-bank financial institution has been adjudged winner of the
business of the year award at the maiden edition of the Ghana Economic Forum
(GEF) Excellence Award for excelling as the best company whose achievements has
advanced the Ghanaian economy exceptionally.
The GEF excellence
award 2016 ceremony which took place on the eve of Thursday, August, 2016 at the plush Movenpick Ambassador Hotel saw
six outstanding companies honored with a plaque for excellence.
Out of the six (6)
awards categories at stake, Dalex Finance swept two; adjudged winner of the
Business of the year award in addition to Business Man of the year award which
was conferred on its Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) Mr. Ken Thompson as a
recognition for mark of good leadership in business.
For the entrepreneur of the year award
category, CEO of Beige Capital, Mike Nyinaku was adjudged the winner while Kate
Papafio, CEO of Reroy Cables pronounced the Business Woman of the year. Under
the Business with a Conscience award category, Unilever was declared a winner
of the year while Data Bank picked the Business Pioneer of the year award.
Addressing participants during the event
, Chief Executive Officer of the Business
and Financial times, organizers of the event, Ms. Edith Dankwa explained the
awards seeks to recognize individuals
and businesses across all sectors who contributions either through excellence,
innovation and growth in business and leadership among others have propelled the growth of the economy
remarkably.
She
commended all award winners especially Dalex Finance for its outstanding
initiative in coming out with innovative products aimed at addressing financial
difficulties faced by the country.
According to her, most businesses in the
country are doing well who also deserved to be recognized but unfortunately did
not take advantage of the nominations which was earlier opened in the
newspapers and other media platforms, calling on them to endeavor and register
and participate in the next year event to also get recognized.
Director
in charge of operations of Dalex Finance, Joe Jackson in an interview with the
media said he feels excited to see his outfit recognized among its competitors
in the industry for the good job being done.
“For
us what gives us pride is the fact that not only have we grown employment but
we’ve grown employment in the rural areas; the people who come out of school
with diplomas and degrees who have been employed in the last three years
working for Dalex Finance is what gives us pride and that for us excites us to
move forward and do greater things”.
The
maiden edition of the 2016 GEF awards was initiated by Business and Financial
Times and proudly supported by Price Water Coopers. It will be held annually.
The
Ghana Economic Forum, an annual event established in 2012, is a private sector
led initiative and platform created by Business & Financial Times to bring
together captains of industry and thought leaders to discuss and debate key
issues affecting the Ghanaian economy and offer solutions to help overcome the
challenges in order to enhance the achievement of the country’s economic development
plans.
This year’s event was aimed at bringing up new thinking and policy
alternatives to help shape the country’s agenda for economic growth which was
on the theme: “A Ghanaian Owned Economy-Setting the agenda for achieving it”.
