PCEF launches campaign to promote
peace in Ghana
As
part of efforts to promote peace in Ghana in 2016 and beyond, Peaceful
Character Education Foundation (PCEF), an NGO in collaboration with other key
NGOs championing peace campaign in the country have launched a campaign dubbed
“Peace in Ghana 2016 and beyond”.

The
campaign seeks to sensitize Ghanaians, educate and create awareness on the need
to keep the peace before; during and after 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary
elections come November, 7.
The
campaign message, according to Mr. Richard Wogodo, President of PCEF, hinges on
5 key pillars for peaceful election in Ghana which are; self-control, respect,
acceptance, responsibility and S.T.O.P (stop, think, weigh our options and
proceed with the right choice).
Speaking
at the launch which took place at the GNAT Hall in Accra on Saturday, July 2,
2016, Richard Wogodo noted the 5 key pillars principles are indeed important
because “it does not only help us to achieve a peaceful elections but at the
general society level can help transform and make our communities a peaceful
one before, during and after the November polls”.
The
PCEF boss, Mr. Wogodo also highlighted his outfit will be embarking on series
of programs which includes annual peace seminars and peace fairs for students,
workers, parents and all individuals across the country. In addition, it will
also introduce “PCEF clubs” in all basic and second cycle schools in the
country including initiating a number of TV and radio shows to help promote
peace in Ghana.
Two
of such TV shows he mentioned include “Parenting Manual Show; a TV talk show that
teaches parents how on how to become great and better parents including “the
kids and peaceful solution show”; a show that will teach and encourage kids
into developing positive moral character and also be able to teach others.
Meanwhile,
the National Vice-President of the Ghana National Association of Private
Schools (GNAPS), Mr. Steve Revss has cautioned the youth to desist from any
action of violence that is likely to mar the peace Ghana enjoyed before, during
and after the November 7 polls.
He
called on all Ghanaians to accept the result of whoever emerges as winner in
the 2016 Presidential elections.
PCEF is a Ghanaian based Non-Governmental Organization that
is committed in sensitizing people on the need to eschew violence and embrace
peace in every way. Since its inception four (4) years ago, it has conducted
series of training for Ghanaians including traversing the seven (7) regions of
Ghana where students, people in churches and businesses benefited. The
launching of the organization in Ghana on June 30, 2012 also saw over 7,000
people among others sensitized on how to ensure peace prevail in Ghana at all
cost.
