Korle Bu Burns Centre gets Toyota support
As part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery
in Ghana, Toyota Ghana Company Limited has presented a negative pressure wound
therapy machine with some dressing materials to the National Reconstructive
Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
The donation of the vacuum assisted closure (VAC)
machine follows an appeal made to the company to support the Centre.
The gesture, according to Mr. Tetsuya Suematsu,
Managing Director of Toyota Ghana Limited, forms part of the company’s social
responsibility towards ensuring continuous success story of Korle Bu Teaching
Hospital in healthcare delivery.
Presenting the items to the Centre at a short
ceremony on Wednesday, Mr. Tetsuya Suematsu said: “We believe by contributing
to the health of those within the communities in which we operate, we also
sustain the strength of our business. That is why we have established and
maintained a continuous support relationship with this hospital over the
years.”
Receiving the items worth GH¢ 14,000 on behalf of
the Centre, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, Director of the Plastic Surgery and Burns
Centre, thanked Toyota Ghana for the kind gesture, pledging the equipment will
be used for their intended purpose.
He appealed to Toyota for more support, adding
that such equipment are needed in larger quantities to deal with the numerous
cases the Centre receives on daily basis.
Dr. Ware Ampomah also called on philanthropic
organizations, individuals and other corporate entities to emulate the efforts
of Toyota by donating to support the Centre in order to deliver and meet the
needs of every patient on time.
