Diplomatic Platform Supports Akropong School for the Blind

Diplomatic Platform, an NDC youth wing, has presented assorted items worth GH₵5,000to the Akropong School for the blind to help the school meet some of its daily needs.
The items included 20 bags of rice, 1 carton of cowbell powdered milk (tin), a sack of powder soap, 3 cartons of washing soap, 20 packs of toilet rolls, 2 cartons of mosquitoes coil, 1 gallon of cooking oil, 10 boxes of Indomie Noodles, 5 boxes of Digestive biscuits, a sack of sugar, 10 pcs of washing bowls in addition to assorted soft mineral drinks.

The gesture, according to Julius Logass, administrator and leader of the Diplomatic Platform forms part of the groups devotion to donate and support to ease the burden of pupils and the school management in commemoration of the third anniversary celebration of the former President of Ghana, late Prof. Atta Mills.

Prez Mills whose relentless ambition to reach out to the disadvantaged in the society especially the Akropong school of the blind came to a halt  due to his sudden demise 3 years ago.

But his legacy is being celebrated whilst his vision is still kept alive and being carried out unabated in his remembrance.

For the part of the Platform, the donation is a ’special’ one intended to put a little smile on the faces of the children to celebrate the legacy of the late President and keep him in remembrance.

At a short ceremony prior to the presentation, Mr. Joseph Homadzi, Assistant Headmaster of the school advised the students to be humble and respect people in authority.

He said the late former President Evans Atta Mills left behind a legacy of ‘humility’ which is the most important thing to be celebrated rather than acquiring any form of donation from anyone, charging them to be obedient and humble in their ways.

"As students, you must always be humble, respect authorities, you must also pursue peace and dignity and be able to withstand pressure and resists all odds...., ‘these are the legacies’ our father, Atta Mills left behind  for us, which we must follow in order to remain victorious in life, no matter the circumstance" he stressed.

He described the late Prez. Mills as a humble servant who was down to earth for everybody, no matter the class, color or race whose legacies every student must emulate and celebrate.

Madam Obuobia  Darko-Opoku, an NDC  bigwig who presented the items on behalf of members of the Diplomatic Platform said the children are
very special and dear to NDC youth wings platform that's why they've come all the way to Akropong to donate and support them.

"We’ve decided to come and make a donation to you because you guys are so special and dear to our hearts. Whatever we do here, when we live here, always remember because we love you so much that's why we came here to donate and support you" Obuobia Darko-Opoku stated.

Ms. Mahela Narh, Headmistress of the Akropong School of the Blind who received the items on behalf of the school commended the Platform for their kind gesture.

She was elated and hopeful that though the late Prez Atta Mills was no more alive to continue his dreams, the Diplomatic Platform members are poised to carry out the vision in good faith.

The Diplomatic Platform is a whatsapp platform created with youth membership of 100 who believes in the principles and ideology of the National Democratic Congress.

This is the second time the  Platform has stretched its charity arm to reach out and relive the plight of the unfortunate ones in the society.

It was the Weija Leprosarium who was the first beneficiary to receive from the platform since its inception in July 22, 2015.
