MUSIC COUNCIL OF GHANA CALLS OFF IMPENDING DEMONSTRATION

Following  successful  and peaceful  deliberation emerging from a closed door  meeting between the Chief Director of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts, Nana Oduro Kwarteng and the management of the Ghana Music Council of Ghana on the 8th of August, 2014, Management of Ghana Music Council of Ghana has decided to call off its demonstration slated for  the 14th of August, 2014 to register their displeasure concerning the formation of the creative arts council by the Ministry of Tourism as well as other pressing issues bothering the music sector in Ghana.

Speaking to Radioxyzonline in a short interview just after the meeting at the Conference Hall of the Ministry in Accra, President of the Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana(MUDAG), George William Dickson disclosed the planned demonstration has been cancelled due to the fact that management of  MUDAG is satisfied with the agreement reached by both parties concerning the formation of the Creative Arts Council earlier proposed by the Ministry which raised the concern between the two parties.

According to him, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has scheduled for another meeting with the management of MUDAG to further discuss and resolve issues concerning the formation of the Creative Arts Council and other issues bothering the music sector in a future date(undisclosed) to arrive at an amicable solution.

"Because of the fruitful outcome of the meeting with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts this afternoon 8th of August 2014, we see reason to call off the Demonstration scheduled for 14th August, 2014 to find workable ways in collaboration with the Ministry for the development of and well-being of all stakeholders and players in the Creative Arts Industry including music" he added.
