Kwabena Adofo, a young man believed to be in his 40s has been found lying down behind the Takoradi- station around Kaneshie in Accra with black eye swollen face with various degrees of scars on his body. What is believed to be another mob justice has been meted out to this man leaving the entire market people shocked and dismayed. According to an eye witness, Kwame Agyapong, the victim was seen by an old lady loitering around a fitting shop holding some electrical cables in his hand near Kaneshie not far away from where he was lying. The old lady screamed loudly saying “thief” and all of a sudden mobs appeared from nowhere with whips, stones and harmful objects beating the man. Adofo quickly felt down helplessly on the ground in a pool of blood and petrol was poured on his body ready to be burnt. Actress Megan Young was crowned Miss World 2013 on Saturday, besting 126 candidates from all over the globe and earning the Philippines its first ever victory in the beauty contest. Young accepted the Miss World crown from 2012 winner Wenxia Yu at the awarding ceremony in Bali, Indonesia. Miss France Marine Lorphelin took second place while Miss Ghana Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter came in third. Ghana’s Naa Okailey Shooter made history as she became the first Miss Ghana to make it into top 5 of Miss World and eventual placing 3rd in the pageant. Poor road conditions, human error, vehicle breakdowns coupled with environmental factors like poor weather and non-road worthy vehicles have been cited as major causes of road accidents in Ghana as a result many people lost their lives everyday.   Statistics according to media report revealed that four people die daily on Ghana's roads due to road accident. Upon estimation Ghana loses over 230 million dollars yearly due to road accidents with more than 1600 deaths.   Research by the National Road Safety Commission revealed that in 2010 that there were 19 fatalities per 10,000 vehicles in Ghana. Statistics again showed that 43% of the fatalities involved pedestrians and 53% involved occupants of vehicles   whiles 23% of all pedestrians’ fatalities involved children below the age of 16 years.
